These candles have colorful paper artwork labels with spells and prayers on the back. They are made of soft wax in colours appropriate to the conditions for which they are used. The candles will burn continually for at least 120 hours. The fact that stay alight for many days has earned them the name "vigil lights." It is customary to dress them with anointing oils as they are burned.

 

Most folks burn glass-encased candles straight through. If you chose to burn them for short periods, put them out, and then relight them, you will probably need to use fireplace matches to get them going again.
